PROJECTS

SR-34; St. George Blvd

Starting August 3, 2025, UDOT began to work on adding new ADA compliant pedestrian ramps on St. George Blvd. There will be lane closures at night, but traffic should remain smooth during the day. The project will also add upgrades to the surrounding electrical systems and replace the top layer of asphalt and add signage and striping, which are slated to begin in September.

I-15 Safety Project; Hurricane to Leads

The I-15 Safety Project worked to improve safety features on the I-15 by installing new fencing to keep local wildlife out of the roadway. A new double cattleguard was installed on the I-15 Northbound Leeds Exit 20, further increasing the safety of the road.

HPI coordinated with Leeds Town, Harrisburg, Red Cliffs Tortoise Reserve and Washington County, Utah with preconstruction coordination, in person outreach and construction updates throughout the project.

SR-12 Bridge Work; Henrieville Area

In November 2023, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) began work on replacing the Henrieville Bridge, as well as the Smith Ranch Bridge on State Route 12. In March 2024, a bypass road was built around the Henrieville Bridge, to send the flow of traffic around the bridge crews while they worked. The Smith Ranch Bridge was built one side at a time, with a temporary traffic light installed to manage traffic while the bridge crews worked. Both projects were finished in August 2024.

A direct mailer was created and sent to all residents in the area by HPI. In addition, in person site visits, weekly coordination meetings, UDOT website and traffic app updates were facilitated as well. This corridor is heavily used by tourists. Local towns and recreation sites were kept apprised of impacts throughout construction.

SR-18 Snow Canyon White Rock Trailhead

A new parking lot was added to the north entrance into Snow Canyon Park at the White Rocks Trailhead. The project began construction in March 2025 and was completed by the end of June 2025.
